Pottery An/Ryosuke Matsuo Two-person Exhibition -Landscapes Reflected in Vessels-

8 products

These vessels are born from dialogue with nature and our customers.
The colors, memories, and scenes of daily life of each place are reflected there.

Mr. and Mrs. Miyaji of "Touki An" create pottery using local soil in a small workshop nestled in the mountains of Awaji Island.
I create my pieces from clay to preserve the natural texture of the earth, and I value the chemical reactions that occur between the clay and glazes, continuing to create as if I were in a "dialogue" with natural objects.
The clay in these vessels, blessed with the blessings of Awaji Island, gives them soft lines and warmth, and the glaze sometimes has a shell-like sparkle or brings out the iron powder, giving them a rich expression.

Ryosuke Matsuo continues to make pottery in Yamashina, Kyoto.
The tableware, created through dialogue with customers, is designed to blend naturally with any dining table, whether Japanese, Western or Chinese.
The base color is ivory with a hint of pale blue, with brown and blue designs on the edges adding a subtle touch of color. The thin and light shape conveys the weight of the food served in the bowl directly to the hand, creating a sense of closeness to the user.
The glaze seeps out from the carved edges, creating a natural, blending appearance that is a beauty unique to Matsuo's work.

These vessels blend seamlessly into the everyday landscape, and the more you use them, the more their presence deepens.
