
Akira Okuda is a potter who makes pottery in Shigaraki.
He took over the climbing kiln that was opened by the first generation Okuda Bungoro in 1862 (Bunkyu 2), and currently creates simple and modern tableware with a black and white base that suits both Japanese and Western styles, based on the concept of stylish design and ease of use.

1998: Joined Kobun Seito Co., Ltd.
2000: Completed small pottery wheel course at Shiga Prefectural Ceramic Technology Research Center
2004 Shigaraki Pottery General Exhibition, Excellence Award
2005 Stayed in Icheon, Korea for a Japanese-Korean ceramic artist exchange
2007-2014 Part-time lecturer at the Kyoto University of Art and Design (currently Kyoto University of the Arts)
2013: Held a workshop as an invited artist at the Korea Biennale
2013-2014 Part-time lecturer at Okayama Prefectural University, Department of Art and Design
2017: Won the "LEXUS DESIGN AWARD 2017 panel finalist" award
In 2023, he will become the sixth generation potter and change the brand name to "TSUBO-BUN"
