Since opening in Arita, Saga Prefecture, about 67 years ago, Dainichigama has been producing everyday tableware using homemade gosu, red glazes, and glazes based on early Imari ware.
Currently, they work together as a duo, and all of their products are handmade with love and care.
The paint, gosu, is made from natural materials, so it contains little cobalt and has a pale color.
The result is a gentle piece of pottery that is unique to Dainichigama.
Typical designs include willows, wild chrysanthemums, and rabbits.
It is thick and durable, making it an easy-to-use dish that can also be used in the microwave or oven.
