Mitsuru Sakurai is a potter based in Sano, Tochigi Prefecture.
The glaze made from straw ash was created through trial and error.
There is something rustic and warm,
Additionally, the iron contained in the glaze comes to the surface, revealing a beautiful blue color.
Praying for good health, and trying to achieve a variety of baked goods,
Apparently, they arrived at the straw ash glaze.
This is a work that gives the impression of being not artificial, but rather of having been created with the help of materials.
It’s the perfect vessel for everyday use.
