[New Arrivals] Goji Ueno's new work is now available on the online shop
Ueno Goji is a potter from Higashikagawa.
We visited Ueno's studio at the beginning of October, where the pottery had just finished firing in the kiln.
Ueno's signature work is "Nanban Yakishime", which is fired without glaze, using only clay and fire.
Other examples include "Kohiki," which is made from red clay with a high iron content and white mud applied to it;
"Black celadon" with "shinogi" etc.
It is full of crystallization of skilled techniques.
The pottery is fired in a homemade climbing kiln, with the temperature slowly rising over a period of around six days, and each piece is expressive and one of a kind.
The firing of the kiln, which can be adjusted by machine, is done entirely by hand.
These wonderful works are a testament to the experience they have gained.
The impression of this vessel changes the more you use it.
Don't miss this opportunity.
